Initial Unemployment Claims in Florida 2012-07-22 to 2012-07-28
Current: 13,761
Previous: 14,061
Summary:
Florida's initial claims for unemployment insurance dropped in the week ending July 28, falling by about 300 claims--or just over 2%. This marks the third consecutive week of decline, and brings claims back to a much more comfortable level when compared with most of 2012. This brought the four-week moving average back down below 16,000 for the first time in almost two months. However, continued claims did not fare so well, as they rose to 146,082, making July 28 the highest individual week of continued claims year-to-date. This may have to do with the high level of initial claims over the past two months; and if this is the case, then falling initial claims should bring this figure back down in the coming weeks.
