David McDonald is the Information Technology Manager and IT Expert at the Bureau of Economic and Business Research's UF Survey Research Center. He provides technological support to all BEBR programs, ensuring data integrity and security as well as maintaining hardware and software to ensure optimal functionality. Mr. McDonald has been with BEBR for five years. Prior to coming to BEBR he was a Registered RPSGT Technologist for North Florida Regional Medical Center. He is conversant in a variety of computer languages including VBScript and PowerShell, and has worked on various platforms. Mr. McDonald’s duties at BEBR involve computer security and maintaining the proprietary survey lab software. Computer security is a priority at BEBR because our survey unit collects health information and must be compliant with guidelines from the federal Department of Health and Human Services regarding strength of passwords, frequency of changing, and locking computers when not in use. Due to Mr. McDonald’s efforts, BEBR has a high level of computer security and a 24/7 monitoring system.
